The Therapeutic Process

I strive to support my clients in coming to know themselves more fully, so that this insight and understanding becomes the foundation for living a contented and fulfilled life.

My Approach

I provide therapy for individuals and couples in a private practice setting. With over 17 years’ experience, I have worked with a broad spectrum of client issues. My areas of expertise include dual diagnosis, substance use/abuse, trauma, eating disorders, EMDR, and DBT.

Additionally, I have extensive experience with hospital-based treatment programs which supports my knowledge of best evidence-based practices, pharmacology, group therapy, and treatment protocols. I value the complementary aspects of both settings.

My therapeutic approach is client-centered, which means we work collaboratively to resolve presenting issues, identify strengths, and develop effective coping strategies. I integrate therapeutic techniques to offer a highly personalized approach, tailored to each client. I believe in working efficiently to restore a sense of well-being and quality of life.

You will experience me as attentive, interactive, and responsive to you in sessions. I hold a deep respect for those seeking to engage in therapy; for their courage, vulnerability, and commitment to improve their lives, and it is with reverence and humility that I share in your journey. Together we can create a safe and compassionate space for exploration, discovery, understanding and healing.

Thank you for visiting my website. May you find the peace you seek.

How can therapy help?

There are many potential benefits available from participating in therapy. Therapy can provide support, problem-solving skills, and enhance coping strategies for issues such as depression, anxiety, relationship troubles, unresolved childhood issues, grief, and stress management.

It can be helpful in addressing personal growth, interpersonal relationships, family concerns, marriage issues, and every daily life. Therapy can also provide a fresh perspective, or point you in the direction of a solution. The benefits you obtain from therapy depend on how well you use the process and put into practice what you learn.

Some of the benefits available include:

  • Attaining a better understanding of yourself
  • Developing skills for improving your relationships
  • Resolution of long standing issues and unhealthy patterns
  • Learning coping skills to address anxiety, depression, stress
  • Working through anger, grief, loss, and other emotions
  • Improving communication and listening skills
  • Discovering new ways to resolve problems in your family or marriage
  • Improving your self-esteem and self-confidence

Is therapy right for me?

At some point in our lives we all face challenges. While the nature and degree of our challenges vary, it seems to be the attitude, understanding and coping skills with which we meet those challenges that determine how we fare. A therapeutic relationship supports the development of those necessary competencies.

Since you are here considering seeking therapy, you are demonstrating self-awareness, responsibility and honesty that now might be a time in your life that requires additional support. I applaud your interest and efforts, and wish you all the best in your journey!
